Ilex Aquifolium, or Common Holly, shouldn’t be “just for christmas”. This is one of the most beautiful evergreen shrubs you’ll find in the UK with its beautiful, dark green, glossy broad leaves defined by their trademark undulating, spiny shape.

Holly is fully hardy and its spiny leaves will deter any grazing animals so you can plant it anywhere and won’t have to worry.

Holly has a slow rate of growth so will not require much pruning and is tolerant to most conditions, especially colder weather. You can use Holly as an ornate feature, privacy screening, windbreak and of course as an excellent intruder deterrent if needed.
